Omega 8000

all iron

Member
when changing settings IE: frequency, number of tones
While sensitivity was cranked the changes seemed to be erratic or didn't' appear to change properly.
But once sensitivity was turned down , adjustments seemed to work fine.

Anyone else experience this?

PS: There is a dot on the top of the 11 inch coil that marks the spot of pinpoint center / seems to work for me

Happy New Year Everyone

I run sen. 99 most of the time and and am able to frequency shift and change tone settings at that cranked up sen. Right you are, the dot marks the spot. HH jim tn

hi jim!
are you experiencing (e.m.i.) at the sites you hunt with the "omega?"
if you are,is the interference the same,or similar to the intensity of the f series detectors?
thanks

j.t., I run into very few spots that e.m.i. is a severe problem. And with the few that are, doing the usual things to some degree or another to stabilize the detector(s) does work. Going to a smaller coil helps, too. I can't honestly say if the Omega is any less affected, or not. Few places are an over all problem for me. One thing I have noticed, though, the frequency shift feature on the Omega does work great. Some times it is almost like turning on or off a light, going from one frequency to another is that noticeable. Some times that is all that is necessary to do. HH jim tn

I can change settings on mine with the sensitivity cranked with no problem. As another said it could be EMI related but that doesn't exactly make sense as doing a frequency shift should quiet the unit (well, at least on one of the 3 channels).

thanks for the "great" info jim!..very helpful!
i am thinking as dave j and the "crew"keep developing
these circuits, the detectors can only hunt better,AND quieter
as time progresses.i'm hoping' somethin' "new' is gonna "pop"
for the spring market!
