My hunting buddy came up with a new spot over the weekend and upon he and I checking it out yesterday with our F 75's we determined it needed a little more attention. He got 2 silvers and between us we bagged 9 wheat cents. So, this morning I grabbed my Omega 8500 to get a little further insight on the spot and to give the 8500 a good workout. As is the case with the Omega's, they simply love coins and silver ones in particular. Nothing all that special this morning, but a 3 silver coin hunt, particularly from a new spot, is always nice.
EMI early on this morning was pretty bad, but a frequency shift cut the emi back maybe 50% and a drop in sen from 70 down to 60 nicely quieted the 8500 down. I was running with 0 disc., D5 tones and stayed with Deep1. The spot was just to trashy for D2 or D3. I hunted from 7a to 11a and by about 8:30 I was able to crank the sen back up 70.
Nothing was all that deep this morning, but a couple weeks ago while using the 8500 with the 5" coil on I dug a 1907 Barber dime a true 7" deep using the above mentioned settings. My 8500 is near pin point accurate on depth readings and I find I don't have to do a lot of guessing on what the coin is going to be. HH jim tn
