Omega and 13" Ultimate coil

Finally bit the bullet and ordered the 13" coil for my Omega. I don't need it for mineralized ground but was thinking the large coil size would be good for hunting the large soccer field near my house and maybe it would give me a little more depth. It finally quit raining long enough for me to get in a 2 1/2 hunt the other day in the grassy area people park on along the outside of the fence line that borders the field then moved across the road to one of the play areas at the shelter there. Not a fantastic day but then I have been hunting the play area on and off for a couple of years, ended the day with $1.32 2 quarters, 7 dimes and 12 pennies. Since I was cherry picking trying to get the hang of pin pointing with the coil the only trash targets I dug were bottle caps and I was fairly certain thats what a few of them where by the way the sound broke up at the edge of the target. Settings were gb at 61 sens at 68, disc maxed out and 4 tones just because I prefer the high sound and at times even with the disc maxed the mixed tones can indicate a trash target even though I get a good tid reading. As for the coil I like it so far, its light, easy to swing and surprisingly not that hard to learn to pinpoint with, tid numbers seem to be the same as the stock coil. Sorry for no pictures, the 2 working cameras I have on hand take to large a picture to post here and I don't know how to reduce it down. Hopefully I'll remember where my old point and shoot is and to buy some batteries for it and I'll get some pics of the detector and coil at least. Will be off work for the next to weeks so as long as the rain holds off I plan to get in a bunch more detecting with it.

What kind of depth are you getting with it? I've been thinking about buying the 13" also.

Open up a PhotoBucket account and you can post your reduced size pictures from there.

Keep us posted on the Ultimate Coil.

None of the targets I dug were over 4" deep most were within the range of my garrett pin pointer. However I was hunting in an area with lots of trash (put the Omega in all metal and it sounded like a broken music box every time I moved the coil.) so it was doing a good job picking out coins from between the tabs, foil and whatever else was there. I hope to get to a school that I have pounded in the past (garrett 1972 or so model, DeLeon, Cibola (stock and 5.75 coil) and the Omega stock coil) and see if there is some deeper silver coins that no one has found yet (I've found a couple silver dimes, wheat pennies and a silver quarter. This was the first place I saw someone using a detector 1971 and he found several silver coins after I got down to the school to see what was going on. Have another site that is an old power and light village from the 30's that was torn down long time ago but is a town park now. I haven't found any silver there but with my DeLeon I did find a couple of wheats, a palmolive soap token and an axe hear that was really deep, and of course some present day coins. So I figure there is a chance of finding some other good targets with this new coil.

Thanks for the photo bucket info Tab, I found the other camera last night now I just have to get out and buy some batteries for it :)
