Omega and EMI

Last week hunted the beach that's 4 minute walk away from the house, never really had problems with EMI.
Last week took the Omega to the beach for the first time using the 8" round concentric coil. Which I have been using other places. Didn't recall any EMI issues,
last week at the beach. Ran sensitivity in the 90's. Today put on the 5x10 concentric and headed down to see how it would work.
EMI issues, had to back sens down to 45. Will have to go back and try the 8"round again.................

Question is the 5x10 coil more susceptible to EMI than the 8" round coil?

This morning I was at two sites where I had EMI sever chatter and it called for a reduction to about 48-52 on the Sensitivity, but 15 minutes later I was stable and could up it to 85+. That was with the stock elliptical concentric coil.

I also hunted two other places where I had to drop the Sensitivity down. Usually, when able, I always run with it at 99. I'll grab the 8" & rod and work the two coils at the same site, same time, and report back tonight. There have been times when I've used the 5" DD bat '99' but had to reduce the 5

Sorry for my delay, Sven. I ran into some of the same issues that I often do, and have, for a few decades now. There are some locations which have periodic EMI when I need to get rid of the high sensitivity chatter, reducing it to the upper 40's to lower 50's, but I can revisit it later in the day or on a different day and it is quiet. I can work at '99' sensitivity w/o chatter or noise. There are several parks around here (Portland Oregon greater metro area) that have caused me those same frustrations for a couple of decades now when using some White's models (some more than others) or virtually any Tesoro mode. Some other makes/models as well. Quiet periods and noisy periods.

So, I decided I would take my Omega w/stock 5

Very possible the day I went with the 8" coil, there was not much EMI present.
As to which coil I like better hunting for Canadian clad coins is a debate. Really like using the Elliptical coil but, if I feel lazy to
taking extra time to pinpoint , will use the 8" round. It pinpoints dead center. Still getting used to the Elliptical, do like the ability to use the
coils tip as a pinpoint aid while digging a hole or near surface targets.

I think that's probably the case. I see some areas that can be noisy or not just depending upon the day or time of day.

I also note differences, on occasion, between the different coils i most often use on the Omega. I do need to work the 5X10 elliptical DD coil more to get a better grasp of how it does, but the fact is, in any noisy environment, the Omega is. It's just the nature of the detector design.

As to which coil I like better hunting for Canadian clad coins is a debate.

If I lived up in Canada, I'd be debating about EVER hunting modern coin use sites, preferring to research and then hunt older sites with good copper and silver based coins, like the good ol' USA used to have. The modern Zinc 1

Earlier today I ordered a 8 inch concentric coil for my Omega. I really like its lighter weight, but mainly I like how much quicker it is to pinpoint with.

That's one thing that I miss about the Gamma that I traded.

When I'm in the mood for beeping and digging, I don't want to be slowed down with a pinpoint button, but I still want dead center pinpointing.

Heck, I don't even want to look at ID numbers when I'm in a digging mood.

When I dig a pull tab, I say to myself that I'm on the right track, because it could have just as easily been a gold ring.
