omega and small coil

Anyone tried a smaller(5") coil on the omega; I have the 11" and stock coil, but would like to try something better for trashy areas.

I have 11" and 5". Great combo. 5" is like a laser around iron and trash. If you have the patience, for most sites, it's the way to go. Much like the F75/T2/F70, you will only lose about an inch depth compared to the 11". At a new site I'll cover with the 11" and then go back with the 5" in trashy or good target areas and find lots of things that were missed or masked.

The 5" is a killer for trash laden sites. As detectingMO stated, it is like a laser. I also have the 10" DD and the 5" is equal in depth and I'm not so sure a little deeper and isn't to far below the 11." If you hunt in the trash much at all, it really is a must and will quickly pay for itself. HH jim tn

The factory 10" coil that came with mine is a double DD, its a concentric, now the 11" I have is a double DD, and so is the little 5"
Where did you a 10" DD coil at?

Boy I'm full of typo's lately!

My above post was supposed read,
The factory 10" coil that came with mine ISN'T a double DD coil, its a concentric.

My 10" concentric I don't believe is a double D. They now make two 10" coils for the Greek series. The other, and the one I was referring to, is the 10" DD elliptical. It is a pretty nifty coil, too and sees less targets then the 11" DD, but gives more coverage then the 5." HH jim tn

I have never used the 5inch coil with a Omega but when i us it on my T2 its a deadly combination,i was suprised how deep it goes for its size and you can still run it with the setting high,i use mine on stubble and also junky roman sites as well.

Was on a field a few weeks back that still had lasy years stubble on and was suprised that it had not rotted away so the only was i could detect was using the little 5inch coil had a lovely little signal about 4 inches down and this little yellow fella popped out.

Its a 1782 George 111 Guinea the image does not do justice to this little beauty.

If you have the opportunity to get a 5 inch coil for the Omega get it as you wont regret it.
