Omega is great

Purchased the Omega 8000 a couple of weeks ago and works well over here in Scotland with the stock coil. But ive been thinking about the 11"DD coil, Will i notice much difference ?. And I sometimes get the EMI that people are talking about, Ive found out that manual ground balancing can reduce the effects of the jumpy TID at higher sensitivity settings.
Anyway here is a pic of the second coin that I found with the omega last weekend It came from unploughed sheep grazing land at a depth of 7 inches.

Its a William 1st (william the lion) of Scotland 1165-1214 AD Silver hammered penny .

ouch space_weaseal, You will be itching to get home to use it, Its a gr8 machine. I had the choice of the omega and an X-terra 705, I think ive made the correct decision for once in my life lol. good hunting when you get it bud.

I have a Omega 8000 with all 3 coils. The 11"DD coil is very
close to the 10" Elliptical coil in depth, discrimination and all-metal mode.
My findings indicate the 11"DD coil is only about 1 inch deeper than the 10" coil.
Their must be something more between the 2 coils, but I can't find it. This is
only from a personal point of view.

The 11 coil is a dd coil, so the hot part of the coil is narrow , allowing for better target seperation , at least in my experiences. I use the 11 coil when ever possible.

I think I will get the 11" coil now, I might not get the 5" because I dont have alot of trashy sites over here, thanks bugg.

I keep finding coins with my Omega no matter what Coil size I use. Great machine for the money.

10" is good but the 11" is better. I don't have the 5" yet BUT... I have a 5" for the T2 and F75 LTD and am amazed at the depth of the 5" coil. It gets depth thata 5" coil should NOT get. Maybe it just concentrates all the power into a small beam and punches down deeper that it should but really I find little difference in the depth. I would be surprised if the 10" is any deeper than the 5". It is the same with the stock 10" spider coil and the 5" coil on the Tesoro Tejon. Most people just use the 5" coil because it loses little, if any depth and seperates much better...

So, if the 5" coil on the O8K is like the T2/F75 coils, it is a winner... deep and deadly.

I find the 5"DD coil only looses about 1" compared to the 10" and 11"DD coils.

This tiny bit of jewelry is interesting. Probably not worth anything but it's unique for it's size.
I found it in 5 inches of lake beach sand. There is an image of Jesus on one side and
Mary holding a baby Jesus on the back side with the words 'Sterling' and 'France'.
I used my Omega with the 11"DD coil.

reltolbert that's an impressive "little" find

I once found a tiny little silver charm similar to that with my old Coin$trike at a tot-lot, and it was pretty deep. The more I use the O8, the more it seems somewhat like the C$, in that it hits hard on round things, even tiny little round things.

Thanks for your comment. Again, I didn't think it has any special value except for the size and
uniqueness. It's something one doesn't find every day. That's the fun of detecting, you never know
what you may find.
