Omega rain cover info.

I see you haven't gotten an answer to this question Dan so I'll take a shot at it.-----I don't know if they make a rain cover for the Omega or not----but----one for the Xterra can be made to work for this machine.-----Also, my wife "modded" the Sunray rain cover for the Explorer/Etracs to fit & I cut the necessary holes in it---it looks & works great also.--------Del

Kelly-----I'd love to but I haven't gotten picture posting capabilities/knowledge with this new fangled computer I've purchased. :)-----Basically what Patsy did was neatly do some tucking & sewing of the rain cover material and added velcro strips for the existing straps on the back of the cover.----Then I installed it & carefully traced then took it back off & cut holes for the two knobs and h,p, jack.-----This was the Sunray rain cover for the Explorer/Etracs.---It ended up looking pretty sharp and very functional---with a nice large transparent window over the detector screen for great viewing.----The only time we have had any trouble with glare on the cover window was when the sun hit it at just a certain angle & that hasn't happened very often at all.---You seem to have a little glare with any covers plastic window from time to time.-----I use this same set up on the G2 & new GB also--these raincovers are inter changeable with those detectors once you get them made up.-----If you do it, I wouldn't use the Minelab Explorer/Etrac rain covers--their plastic windows are way to wrinkled (glare & fit), use only the Sunray rain covers.------Now on the Minelab Xterra rain covers, it's a different story.---Although I haven't used them, I hear they work/fit very well also.----------Del

Del....can you post a pic of the modded cover (s)? Thanks

Well I had an old X-terra cover and works just fine with a little modding....don't know if I would buy one and mod it as it takes away the rain resistant qualities but protects the meter face and also the sides and makes a tight fit and there is also a hole in the left side for the headphone jack...Several ways to accomodate the knobs but I took a skill knife and cut out the bottom part of the plastic and used two small pieces of blue painters tape to stretch the clear plastic tight...Looks pretty neat and even the blue tape blends in with the meter face blue. Sorry no pictures as don't have the ability to do so...I-phone cover cut to fit are a tad expensive and only protect the screen but wrapsol brand actually clears the bubbles in several days and cuts the glare..
They do make commercial one for earlier models and they can be modded also or the bottom plastic pulled up to accomodate setting the knobs an these would be more applicable for hunting in inclement weather such as a light rain.

I bought one for my Omega and never used it. I thought it was to stiff and baulky
Sandwich bags are perfect and disposable

Wow all iron covered it all in one short sentence....Had my XT modded one out today and worked fine so whatever works....most covers are indeed bulky and wrinkly and hard to see thru but mine is stretched tight and held that way with two strips of blue tape and although not a rain cover type guy feel it will serve me well and also protect the box and screen itself...problem solved....

I agree, whatever works best for the idividual user is the best fot that user.
I also have a T2 but do not use sandwich bags on it because i have found a better cover than a sandwich bag.

Good hunting and i hope you keep your machines safe and and dry

This is a great forum for creative solutions for simple or complex problems.

PS: i use a lot of painters tape to cover things to help keep them clean/ its easy to remove when the time comes
