Omega Version

Not sure, but I've heard rumors that the newer ones handle EMI much better than the older ones. Anyone have any input on that?

I am hearing the same thing and thinking about giving the latest version another try. Really liked the initial one I had, save for the times emi would nearly shut it down. HH jim tn

my Teknetics dealer told me today that the new software is less sensitive against the new mobile radio networks. (I live in europe) my one year old omega runs very
soft, watch your groundbalance and hold the coil down to the ground, use your freq shift and all is fine.

I did all that stuff with the previous Omega, but had a few spots that nothing worked well enough to hunt effectively. Loved the machine, none the less. Thanks for your input. HH jim tn

Jim-----I bought a couple of Omegas 7 or 8 months ago and they were both version 4's.-----I requested the latest out Omegas so I think the version 4 is the most current version.---------Del

Rev 4 is the latest software revision. Hardware wise things have improved on Rev 4. My first Rev 4 was built in May 12 and last two Oct 12 and May 13. The last two are quieter and deeper. Now, they will still go nuts around buried power and dog fences. They are just a little better dealing with stuff from the air. I can hit a buried 6" quarter at sens 40 barely in disc mode and ID correctly. I've never had a site I've had to go below 50 on sens even at my house which is insane on EMI. I can start to hit my 6.5" dime at sens 60 with crazy emi. This was with the 11"DD. I now have NEL hunter and sharpshooter instead of the 11" and 5". The nel's are a hair quieter, deeper, and more coverage. Much better built for sure. Haven't really gotten out much since I got them though. I see the sharpshooter as my go to coil with hunter for open areas.

In no EMI, disc 3 tones, I could airtest quarter at 13" and dime 10-11" with high tone with 11" DD. Haven't tried the Hunter but I'm betting and inch more.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Good info on the NEL coils detectingMO. I have the Shaprshooter on another detector and really like it. HH jim tn
