Just a short video of a couple targets I dug today with the Omega.

Thanks for the video. Great job as always. Didnt see that last find coming! Anyone with an Omega that is learning to use it should watch your vids on youtube.

Great vid Bill.. really drives home the point that a GOOD pin pointer is essential! I lost my Pro Pointer the other day (left it on my bumper and drove off - duh), and went out on a hunt with my backup Fisher pin pointer. Got so frustrated that I quit after 3 holes! BTW, have you compared the Garrett PP to the Pistol Probe? I wonder if I should consider the Detector Pro or get another Garrett. Also: what kind of camera stand do you use.. the shots while you're digging are great!

Best of luck to you! MickTwin

I have owned and used both the Garrett and the Pistol probe. I think the Garrett is probably a little more durable plus its smaller and has a light. But the pistol probe can be adjusted in several ways where the garrett cant. The pistol probe is a lot deeper than the garrett this is the main reason I use it. To me it makes recovery a lot faster. The camera I use is the Flip Ultra. It works real good but it does not have a macro function. So getting some closeup shots for coins does not work too well. I think there is another camera that is about the same but has a macro switch for closeup shots. I think it is a Kodak zi8 or something like that.

Thanks Bill. I may give the Pistol Probe a try. As for the camera, I have (and loved) the Flip Ultra HD, but it stopped working (shuts off as soon as it's turned on). I've tried all kinds of fixes to no avail and it's out of warranty so now it's just a paperweight.

May go for a waterproof video camera next.

Thanks for your help!

btw, Don't forget you CAN take a still picture from your Flip video and enlarge it to get decent shots of coins. While it still works that is heh heh.

The Pistol Probe goes deeper than the ProPointer unless you super tune the Pro Pointer, then there both about the same.
The Pistol Probe seems to go thru batteries a little faster.

I had a strip of weed wacker line attached to my Pro Pointer (electric taped on the ends) that had a steel washer in the middle. I was able to slide up the washer (after turning probe on) till I got a sound, then back it down to super tune. Very handy way to do it if retrieving a target - no fishing a coin out of your pocket and fumbling around holding it to the probe.

I had a small piece of a metal rod with a rubber band around it and could just slide it up or down and that worked ok too but finally gave up on the garrett (nothing wrong with it) and stayed with the pistol probe because of the better depth......;o)
