Omega volume control

My Omega's volume is tied to the sensitivity control. The higher the sensitivity, the higher the volume. Low sensitivity I can hardly hear the target. Is this normal on the Omega 8000....Jack

As far as I know it is normal. That is the way sen and volume works on mine, anyway. I don't run low sen, at least lower then being unable to hear a target, but if your earphones have volume controls, you might be able to do some tweaking that way. How low of sen are you talking about? HH jim tn

The Omega doesn't have a volume control. Sure wish they did though. I don't know why you can't here your signals, unless you are listening to it through headphones (that have the volume control turned down) unless you are talking about signals right on the fringe of your detectors range. I've got a couple of layers of gaffer tape over my speaker, just to reduce the volume to a tolerable level. You might want to check with your dealer to see if all is well with your detector.
Mick Evans.
P.S. I don't mean it to sound rude about the lack of volume control. I understand that you are mentioning it in regards to the sensitivity; however, the sensitivity should not bear any relationship to the volume with the excepting of being a modulated tone. that means, the closer to the coil a target is, the louder it will sound.

Been detecting 35 years. I have owned about 45 or 50 detectors. Own 12 now. Just to say I am not new to detectors. When hunting an area that has quiet a bit of EMI, I am forced to turn down the sensitivity to hunt. Even holding the coil in the air and passing a quarter about 2 inches from the coil, my volume goes up and down when turning the sensitivity control up and down. Just wondered if this was normal with the Omega.....Jack
