OMEGA vs GAMMA with same coil !!!

When using the SAME coil, will the OMEGA have more depth than GAMMA, both in ALL METAL and DISC MODE ?

Has someone tested this?

I thought that gamma and omega had the same frequency, electronic and only a little difference in software...

I have had the 11 inch coil on both machines and i to think the gamma is a bit quieter .
I think they both hit about the same depth, if there is any difference, its not much.

The Omega's sensitivity is hotter than the Gamma. Its sens is up their with the Tek T2. Thus its noisier. And has greater depth potential. For example, when the Tek G2 came out, users were saying how much more stable/quieter it was than the Omega in regards to EMI. Alot of people started bashing the Omega. Earthmansurfer, a very experienced poster here at Fmall decided to do some benchtesting of the two units. Here it is:

"I know air tests don't say a lot but I did air tests on all of my machines...G2 at full sensitivity don't hit as deep as the Omega 8000 set at 55. I set both machines as high as I could for testing inside and still be stable. Actually, the Omega with sens set at 55 was hitting coins as deep as my MXT Pro (set to +2 almost max sens) was in air tests indoors. I was very happy with those results. I've never had a machine that would go nuts at high sens settings like the Omega does and was worried I wouldnt get the depth due to using a much lower setting...however I was very wrong."

So here's the Omega running at approximately 1/2 sensitivity output, kicking the G2 & MXT's backside. And airtests do count in certain types of tests. Like this one. I owned the Tek T2 and can verify that the Omega sens has to be dialed down in heavy EMI areas I hunt to the same sens settings as the T2 required. This is with the DD coils being used on the Omega. IMHO, the Omega (with DD coil) is 90% a Tek T2 but with additional refinements/improvements for the coinshooter.

The Omega with the new 5x10" DD is the secret super combo. If I could have only two detectors I would take the T2 SE and the Omega with 5x10 DD coil.
