I'll add to this thread.....and how do you know which version you have?? I just know it's a great machine....
Hold down the pinpoint button while you power it, for a brief time a number will appear at the target ID area, that is the version of that unit.

What differences are in the upgrades from 4 to 6?

That's a good question. I'm still waiting on a reply from Teknetics for the same question that I sent them.

I had to send in my Omega for repairs and in the problem report I also requested any upgrades that were available, when I got it back it was repaired, but no upgrades were done to it!

I have a version 5 and it runs far more quieter then a earlier version model that I had. There were some places at any settings that emi would shut it the older model I had down. With my version 5 I can run 99 sen. and 0 disc. in most places. Other then these later versions running more quiet, I am not aware of any other type of upgrades being done to the Omega. HH jim tn

If version 5 runs quieter than version 4 does, what does version 6 have that version 5 doesn't? Was there something wrong with the earlier versions that version 6 corrected?
I've done a search on the net and even sent a question to Teknetics about it and I still know nothing definitive about what the differences are. Monte?

I have a version 4 and the only time I can hear any EMI is when I set it down to dig and the coil is pointing away from the ground. Very quiet detector.

Only difference in V5 and V6 is V6 has embedded serial that shows on start up. I have an updated to V5 one and it's a bit quieter and deeper than my 2 previous V4's.

Thanks.-----Does the version 5's & 6's still have both the 1/8 & 1/4" headphone jacks (receptacles)?-----I had heard FT changed at some point to just the 1/4" on them.

Eventually they will just be 1/4 like the G2/F19. Not sure if they are yet. Mine is a 2011 machine replace with all new cuts, face, and coil.

I don't know that version 5 and 6 run quieter then 4. I am under the impression that version 4 and higher all run quieter then the earlier ones. Whatever version I had going back two and more years was much more emi prone then the version 5 I now have. HH jim tn

The first versions of the Omega came with only one headphone jack, a little later they added the second one. I'm not sure what size jack they started with.

They have had the two jacks, ¼" and mini, but there will be a production run change in time to eliminate the mini jack and also to add a headphone jack protector/plug. Likely similar to what you see if you find the G2+ photo somewhere.
