1. I look for a repeatable high tone. I noticed that sounds that are one way, only passing left to right, are usually junk. Is this true? Coins usually give me tones in each direction l to r and r to l. Coins very close to the surface give me 3 tones. One r one center and one left. Sometimes just two in each direction and other only once in each direction. Is this what you have found?
2. Pinpointing - if I turn on pinpointing right over the target I get a signal everywhere except over the target. If it is too far away then I get signals at several places. If it is just right then it beeps only over the target. Other times when there are close targets I raise it about 5 inches in the air right over the target and start there. Does everyone agree or disagree with this method?.
3. digital ids - This is a hard one. Sometimes I get two results and do not know which to use. I hear a high tone and get junk ids or the opposite is true. If I keep passing over the target sometimes I get a better id an sometimes worse. If I just let it set the detector seems to cycle thru a list of ids it has stored. Other times it shows only one or an additional second id. It does not seem to show the last target id as some have suggested. Also if a coin is close to the surface it does show the coin if I am exactly over it. How do you all deal with the different numbers?
I also get some targets where the id will not lock on and I get several very different digital ids in quick succession. What does this mean?
Sometimes I get a warble sound and the detector does not lock on. What does this mean?
Is there a special sound(s) for junk signals?
Joe.
