One good hole!:twodetecting::fisher:

My hunting buddy and I with our DST F 75's were in the woods this morning shortly after first good swinging light. We walked to a corner of the spot that I had never spent much time hunting for some reason or another and as has been the case of late, good targets once again were few.

About a hour into the hunt, however, I got a somewhat bouncy mid to upper 80's reading showing 6" of depth. Dug a good size plug with my Predator Little Eagle and scanned the clod and found the target was in the removed dirt. Located it with my pin pointer and saw the reeded edge of a silver quarter. Picked it up and quickly rescanned the dirt and got another hit. Located it and had found double silver Washington's in the same hole. As fate would have it, both were 1943's, but 1 was a D mint and the other plain. I suspect one of the coins was at least partially on edge. The ear ring with a post was just under some leaves and non marked. Near the end of our hunt I did manage a 1918 wheat cent. But, one good hole made the hunt for me.

We both had on our 5 x 10 DD coils and I was in B P mode running 90 sen., 0 disc., no notch and 3 H tones. HH jim tn

awesome recovery, Congratulations! Nice finds.

Another nice hunt. Those silvers try to hit on you one on top of the other. But Jim is too smart for quarters that aren't quarter numbers. Fine detecting......Z

Nice Jim. Silver quarters are very scarce here in central Wi.
I'm curious though. Is that a common number for twin quarters with that coil?
My f70 with the elliptical concentric will hit 2 clad quarters at a very solid 93 at about 4". Not second guessing you but wondering if the coils make the numerical difference? Once again-- nice find in the woods:please:-------------------IB

I would say that makes up for those couple hunts you had no silver finds..

I'd love to find just one silver quarter, two in the same home would definitely get my juices flowing . Silver pocket spills are rare, nice hunt Jim and again thanks for sharing your hunts.

IBdiggin, the two silver quarters didn't have the tell tale signs of being stacked, although, no doubt they were close together. I will admit, I was kind of thinking silver half with those higher numbers.

Typically, both the 5 x 10 and the 11" coils read coins the same. Silver quarters laying pretty much flat in the 4-5" depth range typically come in 83-84 reading. Since these two were pretty close together, that may account for the little higher then normal reading I usually experience. HH jim tn

Jim,

Nice find, I think your detector was reading the dates, 2x43= 86 a match for your ID.

Jim,
Your daily hunt reports are always a part of my day. Kind of like reading the newspaper. You keep motivating me when I'm too busy to get out myself.

Appreciate it.
Mike

Great hunt, Jim. I'll have to start checking more woods on this side of TN.

Mike, thanks for your kind comments.

I will state your favorable posts of the DST F 75 were a strong factor for me getting the one I now have. I had a regular F 75 camo version that I really liked and then a 75 LTD that on more then one occasion I wanted to wrap it around a tree. Although I made many nice finds with it, it was a chatter box many places I hunted and always a crap shoot on what the target might actually be. This DST version is a pure joy to hunt with. Mike, retirement is a great "get out and hunt motivation." HH jim tn

Hightone, if you have some woods over your way that has seen people activity for several decades, they can be a literal treasure trove. Give them a shot and good luck. HH jim tn

Great finds congrats again.
Just a few days after I got my f44 I was out in my yard and I had some penny numbers come up but they were kind of jumpy. I rescanned the area and got better numbers. There were 38 pennies and 1 dime in the same hole about 5inches in diameter. My wife said it was probably some kids Stacy.lol

There are a lot of variables that can change vdi readings somewhat. It is still tone first and foremost. A 40 coin, coin spill is a good one, even if mostly pennies. HH jim tn
