One little, two little Indians, and my other little finds

silversweeper

New member
One little, two little indians. Two little indian coins. One indian flattened by a steam engine, one little indian coin. I detected a yard of an older home on Monday and started off great with a pocket spill of 3 wheaties, then another a foot or so away. Picked up some memorials here and there, then a train flattened penny which I just put in my pouch without examination. Proceeded to hunt the rest of the yard just knowing I was going to hit silver at any moment....never did. I ended up with about $1.92 in clad/pennies and was rounding out a corner of the yard when I hit a good solid signal that ended up being a Captain Midnight membership medal (second of the year actually), then about 6 feet away got a 7-9/36 signal that I knew had to be an Indian. Dug the plug and out popped a beautiful blue-green 1898 Indian in pretty good but worn shape. Last couple of signals before quitting time were close together and hit at 12/46. I kept hoping for that silver but the first target was my 4th modern quarter of the day. The second signal, and kind of fluttery, was a 1/2 dollar ('72 JFK) on edge. The half dollar isn't anything special to anyone else but it's my first half dollar ever so I was happy even if it wasn't silver. Total for the day was the $1.92 in clad/modern (1 1/2 dollar, 4 quarters, 2 dimes, 1 nickel, 17 memorials), 6 wheaties ('27, '28,'39, '41, & 2x'44), the one good indian and then the flattened penny turned out to be an indian also but the date is obliterated. I can just make out the outline of the shield, "ONE CENT", and wreath on the back and the feathers/head-dress on the front. Then there's the Capt. Midnight medal and last to be mentioned is what really got me excited when I first found it...lol. I was hunting a small area where some dirt had been pushed around and hit a good solid signal, dug the plug and out pops a dirty coin that I can see an odd looking eagle surrounded by stars on. I thought I'd really found something good until I flipped it and saw the "No Cash Value". Just a new game token....bah! Also dug the usual assortment of junk and one decent little bell that I forgot to photograph, will include it in the next post.

CONGRATS

For the coins and the story

I HATE THOSE DARN NO CASH TOKENS THAT MAKE US SO EXCITED AND THEN SO DISAPPOINTED

Regards and HH
