It was a beautiful fall day here. But with winter just around the corner (23 degrees F here yesterday morning), I had some things to do that I've been putting off. I did manage to get out and hunt for a few hours yesterday, and came away with 3 more IH cents, a wheat and a trinket of some sorts. I'm always amazed at how some IH cents come out of the ground looking great. And others from the same site are nasty! The majority of farmers have gone to minimum till, so the soil doesn't get turned over like it did 20 years ago. For what it is worth, the best looking one was quite deep and the others were only a few inches, making me think that it has something to do with their exposure to the elements. HH Randy

Pretty typical dates for those I find around here. 1888, 1892 and 1899. That 99 looked an awful lot like another 77 when it first came out of the ground. HH Randy

I'm like FW "where are the dates":wiggle: Was 33 here in southwest Virginia this morning and our first real killing frost. Only good thing about it, one doesn't have watch for snakes as much:clapping: TomB

I don't miss those pesky mosquitoes or ticks either ! HH Randy

I alway slike to find a indian penny. We also had a good frost this morning.

I think it may have been gold plated at one time. The back side is worn down to the same reddish color as the high spots on the front. HH Randy
