One Lone Indian

We went out detecting for a bit yesterday morning and I was digging anything deep. I was wanting a nickel so bad. But no such luck. Here's all my targets and I did find one 1899 Indian cent along with three wheats 1915, 17, and 53-S. I LOVE to see those Indians come out of the ground. We were in a private yard and the top 1/2" was wet from the night's rains but the ground is quite dry underneath. We need a lot more rain here in Central Illinois. HH and thanks for looking, Nancy

REALLY nice job Nancy. I really like those IH pennies. I know you like those Bi-Centenniel Quarters but the IHs are MY favorite. Nice looking wheats also. We need rain here too. Still so dry from the summer heat. Makes for some difficult digging. My dealer said that the fall is the "real" MDting time. Well, I'm full ready !!!! LOL.

You did good....
Those rusty round washers will fool a lot of units, some times you get lucky and find some good stuff mixed in...
Most of our Indians are in bad shape when they come out of our soil.
I did see 2 Indians that a guy found, they looked like they came out of a store, but I know he found them.

Hi Nancy,

First of all congrats on the "ole redskin". I went out today to a beach/lake/park and found my first IH 1886 !!! This is for me the first coin that does not start with a 19 or 20 on the date. I don't know the exact location, but on inspection I saw the Indian on the "cover" It is cool to find an old coin, but to be honest I have not targeted any old premises here in Florida. I found the diamond, the gold the silver now I have a real coin of age to add to the collection. I did not want to take away from your post, but I got excited and I know you and Larry must have a collection of IH's As it is in first girlfriends, the first IH for me is special. lol.
Hope you all get some rain there to soften up that ground !! Once again congratulations on the find. Marty

Oh Marty,

What a great find and BIG congratulations on your first Indian and your FIRST 1800's coin. Heck that is VERY special and I will celebrate along with you. You've got to be very excited. I remember the time I broke the 1800's and I was ECSTATIC! I remember going over to tell Larry and then I had to call our metal detecting president. I remember sitting in Larry's truck and still being in awe! So, you're not taking away from my post, you're adding to it. Thank you!
