One more photo GTP1350

I have found some of those railroad spikes too and also tons of junk....well....more or less! God Bless! Betty

Found some old railroad spikes down about 4 or 5 inches, but don't know how to tell their age, if you can.

I don't know how to tell their age either, DK, but I think one of mine has a number on it....but since it's been quite a while since I've looked at them I am not sure now! I also have a mule shoe found at an old home area in the woods! Sure was grown up and full of brush and briars, making it diffiuclt to detect! Best I can remember there was lots of iron and junk, too! :) God Bless! Betty

we have to get the junk to get the treasure! :)

I wouldn't call the railroad spike junk! I grew up very close to an old railroad & tunnel. I used to LOVE to walk on the tracks and through the tunnel and pick up spikes, insulators, and all the other stuff I could find. I remember laying in my bed at night and listening to the train coming through. Now, I live just on the other side of the mountain that the tunnel runs through (my parents still live in the same place). For several years I could lay in my bed at MY house and listen to the train. A few years ago they stopped using the tracks, took them up and now nothin runs through there, except the usual varmints. I know lots of really OLD and some really COOL stories about the old RR and still miss it being there. Of course the tunnel is still there but is now in bad shape.

Hi Lisa, you sure do have some interesting stories and I like reading each one and even others on here who tell about things happening now or in the past! I used to read a lot as well as write but with my eyes like they are now, I can't read very often or too long at a time! Even messy when I write, as I don't see very well and have to write fast when God's Holy Spirit gives me what to write, especially in my poems....sometimes I can't read my own writing or scribbling!! :) God Bless! Betty

Ma, I have a TON of stories! I love to tell one right after another. When I'm teaching, my students seem to really enjoy my classes because I try to make it fun and I also fill their ears full of stories! My son, Jason, is a big story teller too. One of my teacher friends and band director I've worked with for years, used to call Jason Uncle Remus! Ha! For those of you who don't know who Uncle Remus is, he is the old black gentleman who used to tell all the stories about Tar Baby & Br'er Rabbit stories. I try not to tell stories here because they can get long and I figure most people aren't all that interested.

Lisa

Hi Lisa, Yes, tell us more of your stories! I remember Uncle Remus and the Tar Baby and Br'er Rabbit stories! But I made a mistake in '91 when I was working for The Lutheran Church MO Synod as a medical insurance processor and happend to mention them and boy, oh boy, the black workers there just about went into fits, but another one told them that they were just books back in the 40's and 50's and I told them I hadn't meant anything by what I said that would upset them, soooo things calmed down! Touchy, touchy some people are!!! God Bless! Betty
