One more reason to find another job...unemployment denied

I can be laid off but not get any unemployment because the place I work did not file paperwork to the state telling them how much I made last year. So according to the unemployment office I have no income for them to determine how much I should get. I have all my pay stubs but that is not sufficient proof of my income.

Sure makes me want to run back to work when they call and need me - NOT!

Lord, come quickly, please.

I was told by another branch of the state government that if I didn't have an income to file for unemployment and I could get medical coverage. This agency will accept my pay stubs as proof of income.

:shrug:

Already missed 2 weeks of unemployment because I didn't know I could so now another 2 weeks later after applying for it I am going to be denied for no proof of income and it appears that getting back a regular work schedule won't be until the end of May - another 4 weeks from now. I might be handsome to some but not handsome enough to pay bills with my good looks.
 
Hey Pete--That's government for you. Just like here in Indiana, especially Connersville. The government, state and local, seems to do more to hurt the ones that need the help, and does more to help the ones that don't need the assistance. Never had been able to figure that out. The harder you want to work the worse they treat you. Keep the faith. We will continue to pray for you.

Have you considered starting your own business? There are a number of inexpensive opportunities out there, such as SMC, if you don't mind selling. What do you really like to do other than metal detecting? What are your talents or abilities? Maybe you can start a business doing something you really like to do? Food for thought friend.

Sorry to hear, Pete, but I would talk to your manager or boss at the hotel and get him talked into filling out unemployment income papers for you! The reason he hasn't because he would have to pay into it and probably doesn't want to do that! Squawk until you are heard, because the squeekiest wheel gets the grease! Don't take NO for an answer, as our God is more powerful than the gov't and He says Yes, for His children to get what is coming to them! Don't give up and keep the faith! :angel: God Bless! Betty
 
Be calm satan wants you all upset , keep seeking GOD's will and he will provide for you. Pray for your old boss that GOD will open his eyes and that he will do the right thing. We will keep you in our prayers brother.
 
Praying for you Pete! Ive been up and down in my life, but the Lord has always provided, what is your biggest need right now Pete?
 
I've talked with him too many times already without a lot of satisfaction. Just rather move on to yet another job.

I guess if you own the marbles you get to make up the rules. I guess if ya don't want to play by their rules they take their marbles and go home. :shrug: Think that is the way the State operates.
 
I have one on Craigslist as well...Welcome to the forum Scrapman. I had also gotten in the newspaper last year letting people know I try to recover items both on land and in the water. Plus went to a lot of the hotels and motels here and let them know of my services in case one of their guests lost something. Only had one call from someone who lost the key to his boat and they wanted to go home that day. They found the key before I arrived but they gave me $5 for gas anyway. Some motel owners have their own detectors too.
 
Pete, just my 2 cents....But I agree with Mike...Somethings fishy....Unless your working under the table knowingly? All business have to report and 10-99 all there employees to the Feds and State...They all have to pay into the Unemployment Insurance...And you are required to pay Michigan State tax....which I'm sure they took out of your check! and those two weeks you can get back.....all of it...there is special paperwork you fill out and send to Grand rapids.. (Been there...Done that) This is not your fault it is your employers! But it is your Burden of Proof.....as long as you have all your pay-stubs like you say....That's all you need! There are many resources that can help! the problem is there will be alot of red tape and waiting involved.. But I bet your employer is banking on that you wont pursue it! I would first start with the UIA....talk to a Supervisor there...If you cant get anywhere there....get ahold of the NLRB (National labor Relations Board) they will either represent you or direct you where to get help!
