Haven't posted in a while, but some things need to be shared. A member of the Detecting Club which I belong, had received permission to hunt a farm field that soon will be developed. This field has surrendered some real nice finds including a 1857 Gold Dollar Coin, except for me. I hunted it twice with two Wheat Cents and a Brass Thimble as my best finds. But something kept nagging at me to give it another go round. So this past Sunday, I was driving near there so I figured one more try. About 40 minutes into the hunt I got a good signal, it was showing 60-62 on way on the meter and 67-70 sweeping another way, depth showed as 7 inches. Here I thought was an Indian and dug down a full 7 inches. (Use a M6 with 10" Excelerator Coil, DX-1 Probe) Checking the hole, it looked like another 1/2 Reale, which is not a bad find. But when I took a closer look, turns out it is a 1857 Half Dime. Made my day. Thanks for looking.
