One of my finds this summer was not some misc junk

This just goes to show what somethings we find may be worth and laying in our trash piles.
I got this with the Explorer XS II with the Platypus coil on labor day weekend in a old fairgrounds that had been hit hard by others over the years. I got this 1888 dog tag and a undated standing lib quarter plus a old lady compact and a silver Rosie.

I thought it was a nice find being this was a year before ND was a state, but I found out different when I talk to the guy I trade my tokens too as I was offered the following.

I was also offered this seated half too on the deal, so I traded.

LOVE THAT GOLD!! and now added this to my finds display, but mention it was tokens and dog tags found that got me these coins as i have some nice cap bust halves, 3 gold pieces $2.50 now a $5 and a $10 new eagle plus some very high grade 1800 silver dollars and other old coins all by the trade tokens and dog tags I find. This 1888 is by far the oldest one I have found and also got the most for it as you can see. Just don't throw those older tags out or in the misc pile as some are worth a bit. I was told if mine would have had DT (Dakota Territory) on it it would have been worth 3 times as much, but very happy with what I got.

Beautiful tag and smart re-investment in the gold. I don't know about your state but I know that in the state of Washington I have found a few old trade tokens and bought a token book. As it turns out there is a high market for old tokens and a lot of them are worth more than old coins. Very Nice trade and sharp details on the tag. Nice, Find

its just plain amazing rick . you find some very cool stuff. ive alway read your posts cause they are always imformative. when the explorers first came out i was reading your posts. in fact at that time i picked up an old sovereign and needed some rubber bushings and you sent them to me for free. keep on swinging.

Nice find Ric,

Thought I would try get to some of the sites I avoided all summer because of the drought. But we are getting your storm now and I think the season is over.

Great finds! But rick be careful, that staple is way too close to the coin, use cardboard 2X2's not the plastics ones, the plastics will make your coins in danger of a scratch (you can use glue and problem fixed).

Rick,

Glad to see your tag made it and came away with some gold. A very nice find and a beautiful trade. Want to hear about on the 18th!!
