His name was Alex. He was an African Grey parrot who for 31 years was destined to show the world that parrots are smart. Alex was part of the Alex Foundation, a foundation established to determine how much could be learned from and learned by parrots...particularly Alex.

Alex learned a lot and of course part of teaching is giving rewards for positive things. His favorite reward was one of Sherry's birdie bites she makes. All the treat foods Sherry made for Alex were made with extra love to them and sent to him for free because Alex loved them so much.

The Alex Foundation website is at: http://www.alexfoundation.org/index2.htm

It is amazing how much Alex was able to say and say correctly. It wasn't mimicing - he understood as a child and spoke as a child - a wise child. He will be missed.

Sherry has followed the 'career' of Alex so to speak and the foundation for most if not all of the 31 years. For her this is like the lose of a family member so please say a pray for Sherry for comfort. Thanks everyone.

(BTW if you watched Animal Planet they had a talking parrot on there. His name is Einstein....He isn't even close to the intelligence or vocabulary that Alex had....yet he (Einstein) amazed a lot of people.
