One pretty lady among the wheat

I went back to a field I hunted last fall several times, the farmer just harvested the beans. Last year I found a ton of wheats, and one barber dime. Today I found one lone 1942 merc and 7 wheats. Odd this house was built in like 1905 and every coin I have found there has been from the 40's except the one barber dime last year and it was extremely worn. I will take it! 183 silver this season now.

Question...Is the Mercury head a man or lady as you said???

Although most commonly referred to as the "Mercury" dime, the coin does not depict the Roman messenger god. The obverse figure is a depiction of the mythological goddess Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, a classic Western symbol of liberty and freedom, with its wings intended to symbolize freedom of thought.
