One Ugly Goddess

King-John

New member
Well got up yesterday morning, wanted to do some detecting but it was raining and snowing pretty good up here, after looking at the satellite and doppler, it look like the rain was just about past Oakland, so off for a little (long) drive. Got there around noon, Partly sunny and warmer, got the machine out, turned it on and noise cancelled, the machine was going crazy:rage: , turned down the sensitivity, ended all the way down to 15 before it quit falsing, I then decided to turn it on to auto +3, at that point I was able to run at an average of 20, with no nulling or falsing:clapping:. First hit was a solid 12 - 13 I knew this was a nickel, sure enough it was, next hit high tone, started to get excited it read 11/12 - 46/47 down about 5" I came up with a old clad quarter:rolleyes: next hit was 12 - 42, Copper Penny? sure enough it was the 1944 wheat, about 5 feet away I get a hit right next to a very large tree root, very high pitch, Ferrous was jumping between 10 and 13:shrug: CO stood steady around 45 and 46, after digging down next to root about 6" out pops this Dime very dark in color, right off the bat I can see the face of the Mercury goddess:clap: after a little cleaning I noticed that it was also a 1944, Not in to good of shape but still Silver.
Here are a few Pics.

She may be a little ugly, but the sound a silver is always sweet.

Thanks for the pics and the story.

it is common for the FE number to bounce around especially 10-13 range, I don't even bat an eye when it moves like that. Ugly silver is still good silver!

Nice finds....Silver is always good!

She ain't ugly....looks great to me! Thanks for the detecting story and congratulations on the finds!

Nice haul!!! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and she looks good too me. a little rough around the edges but still looks good.

Thank you for sharing John.

kingjohn I have only had my etrac for a few weeks but I notice the ferrous numbers being slightly inconsistent too. A lot of times it ends up being a coin with conductive numbers in the mid 40's.
