Met up with Greg this morning to hit a field he got permission on. It was a dud, no old house out there. So he asked the farmer if we could do his yard. It is an 1800's yard that Greg has detected many times in the past. Therefore the targets were few and far between. I only got 2 coins. First was a 1911 "V" nickel, then a 1914D Barber dime. :)
Here is a pic of the old house, It is not the best pic, because I was driving past the house and took it out the window as I was going slow. :) Thanks for a fun time Greg!

I will clean and post pics of the big CW dig later! :)

I love those coins, Mike!!!

Terrific finds!!! :jump:

Man, I would love to find a Barber and a V-Nickel, you luck duck you...

You did good! Those last two old coins I found were a fluke. The first "old" coins I have found since starting to detect last summer.
And - I found them with a ACE 250. I used my X-Terra last time I went to the same place and got a pocket full of pull tabs and sack of old beer cans.

I ain't going to put down the X-Terra 70 just yet, but man I sure am discouraged over how the X-Terra is working out for me (or better - how I am working out for the X-Terra). I wish it had target ID and not just the numbers. If I could find two coins like the ones you did, man I would be happy all week and longer likely. I am going to go for a small sniper coil for the X-Terra to see how that works out for me. Never used a DD coil. I guess I had better figure out the concentric on the thing first (if that is at all humanly possible). The X-Terra does however have a better pin pointer on it than the Garrett does I have to admit. Regardless, I still have to use a hand-held pin-pointer with both of them no matter what. I am looking to upgrade my pin pointer soon. I have the water proof treasure hunter vibro probe now - and it has no depth or great accuracy. Any suggestions I would appreciate it.

They need to start a metal detecting class at the colleges - would make a good elective. I would be first in line.

A friend that went to the big CW dig this weekend was very frustrated with the X-70. The bad thing is the dealer does not know anything about it and said just read the manual. The best pinpointer out there is the Sunray probe! but that only works with certain detectors.
College class you say! I am already working on it! :)

No, kidding Mike! Teaching a class about detectors would be right up your alley! Just think of all the field hunts you could all go to and maybe some that others haven't been allowed to go into for :detecting: Extra money for your family and extra places to hunt.....??? The 15 cents in those nice old coins are sure a lot better than a clad dime & nickel!!!!

Detecting with Greg your friend was even better! Congrats!
