OOOH, just another Tesoro at my doorstep this afternoon

Sven

Well-known member
Toltec II
Circa 1994-95.
I assembled it onto a new 3 pc. Umax series s-handle rod set-up that I had mounted the Bandido II on. Much better than the old metal 2 pc. upper s-handle and lower coil rod.
Bench tested it for about 1/2 hour and ran across the street for an hour or so. The night light inside the meter was a big help in the dark.
First coin was a Loonie, that was encouraging, dug some trash and some more coins, ended up finding 1 more Loonie, 2 quarters, 2 nickels and an even 10 pennies.
Total of $2.70.

Reminds me of the Tesoro Eldorado Umax I owned, really liked it. Except this Toltec has an extra feature, analog ID meter. Hoping the meter was going to be somewhat accurate
on Canadian clad. So far there's an area on the meter that Loons and Toons fall into as well as the other clad. 40 to 60 range seems to be where the Loons and Toons fall into. Have not actually dug a Toon to verify they do fall there.. Wish the weather was not turning for the worst for at least for the next week.................would have liked to put some more mileage on it.

Eventually would like to remount the Toltec to make it feel more balanced and lighter than what it feels. A bit weighty at roughly 4 1/4 pounds with the 8 AA and 1 9 volt batteries installed.

interesting machine, first glance I saw a lobo, lol Im sure it will serve you well. :detecting:

Nice Sven, very nice. The Toltec II is a real fun to use detector. Hope the weather stays nice for ya.

Howdy Sven,

She is a little heavy, my wife bought one brand new in 1995, we still have it and I use it once in awhile. The Toltec 100 that I offered you looks heavier, but it is'nt and has a better nickel, expanded low range conductivity readings on the meter. When you get a chance, put Toltec ll in Auto Tune all-metal mode and check the GB, it needs to be "slightly" positive as the manual says because it ties into the meter readings.I have checked this out many times, the manual is right. Good luck with the Toltec ll:thumbup:

 Man, I had a Toltec II also. It was one heck of a machine. Extremely accurate ID and the needle would " lock on" to every good target. I sold it because I have some back pain on occasion and I am really spoiled to the light weight uMax units. These are getting hard to find now so if you really like this unit,... my advise would be, " HANG ON TO IT " :ranting:

Only chance I ever got to hold one of those was at a club hunt back in the mid 90's....Since then it has always stuck in my head that at some point I wanted one.
One day perhaps....

Let us know how it goes.
