There is a link below, that has an email for a Mr. Luke Roberts of the department of history at the university of California. He seems interested in this subject and may be interested in your cool find. Perhaps you can email him the reduced pic that I posted or refer him to this page.
Please let us know if you find anything more about this interesting find! Thanks for posting!

Hi jerseydigger,
You are right about it being an East Asian Charm, probably Chinese.
The words in the center front reading top bottom right left are King,
Moon, Correct, Spring. I'm not sure what it means in a bigger sense.
I can't see the characters on the back very will but the bottom one
means Felicitations, indicating good luck. All the animal pictures I
assume indicate prosperity, but I am just guessing here. I have no
idea about the date of manufacture, and I do not possess any charm
guides. there is a very good Russian site
http://www.charm.ru/
where you can post images and ask questions.
Yours, Luke

...cool find! You gonna contact the Russian and see what they have to say? <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D"> Let us know, 'kay! <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
