Original Sovereign & coin search coil

Eric

New member
I can get a very clean and nice original sovereign. How good is the solid coins search coil that comes with the detector? I was thinking of getting the 8'' [7,25''] open sovereign coil for it.

Thanks, Eric

Eric, the 8 inch Coinsearch has great depth, stable and good target separation.I think if you're new to the Sovereign stick with this coil to learn this detector.Good Luck Ron

The 8 inch coinsearch coil is one of my favorites and highly recommend to those new too the Sovereign as the signal seem to be easier to understand. The only thing is this coil is not waterproof so it shouldn't be use for water hunting, but OK for wet grass, just not made for sitting in water.
Some of my deepest coins came with the 8 inch coinsearch in some very old parks that were 10-12 inches deep. Just had to go super slow to hear them. The next best 8 inch was the S-8 of Sun Rays, but haven't tried the 8 inch Tornado from Minelab as many like them.
Like Ron says stick with the 8 inch coinsearch and get used to the Sovereign before you switch and learn all you can.
I started with the Sovereign XS which was after the original and have tried 2 of the originals over the years and feel the original wasn't as good and never got the depth the XS could get, but is a good detector.

Thanks, years ago I had the XS2 that I really liked but I was so stupid to sell it. But I really liked how good the Sovereign was. Now somebody offered me his original Sovereign and it still has the original box with it! The detector looks slightly used so it might be a good deal.

The XS is one of my favorite Sovereign models. The Original won't work for me too many deep good targets end up being hot rocks my least favorite.Good Luck HH Ron
