Other side of seated bracelet.

WOW!!!! I thought that the front of the coins looked good, but the back even looks better. I bet it took whoever made the bracelet a long time to engrave those type of initials into it. That is the best piece of jewelery that I have seen (In the category of Love Tokens). Now I know why you wish you would have found that, because now I do to. Congratulations to the finder and Hope that the next time you go out Eddie, you get that seated you are after.

She is one pretty bracelet for sure. I will tell Jack the finder you told him congratulations as I'm not sure he looks in on this forum. I may just have to venture out to your neck of the woods to get my seated coin, but I have been doing some more research on an old place where they use to have picnics back in the late 1890's and if I can narrow down the exact location, then there might be a chance of finding a seated coin there and possibly maybe even a gold coin. One can only hope for the best..........:)

Thats cool. Coins are coins but to find a personel item such as that is very cool. Now to find the history of the maker?

jimb

Nice one.

You know my oldest coin to date is 1940 nickle and a 1964 silver dime:thumbdown:
Haven't had a chance to hunt in areas where there might even be old coins.

you have some info about the area it was located. All you need is a person's name, name of the picnic grove or x-amount of distance from town or so forth. The best way is to try and look it up in the towns history book and then take an old platte map and try to locate it from there. You may also want to check platte maps of the same time frame of the picnic spot if name of person or grove is given, it will be a dead ringer most of the time. Usually picnic spots were a mile out of town next to a river or just a spot with nice scenery. Hope this helps narrow down that spot of yours because I want to see you get your first seated. Good luck and HH.

That bracelet was a neat find and it would be interesting to find out the origin of it. Might be kind of difficult since the place it was found is a year around retreat area and who knows if it was lost by someone staying there or if there use to be an old homestead there at one time. Man, if items like that could only talk........:) HH.

That is a nice one alright and I wish my coil would have passed over it. Don't worry about not finding old coins. When you get that lake cleaned out then you can start looking for old places and the old coins will come.........:) HH.

I got some old photos of this place and I went on the internet and looked at some satellite photos of where I think the general area might be and low and behold in one picture you can actually see the faint outline in the ground of the old race track that use to be there. Very encouraging and now to narrow down the land section parcel and find out who owns it and get permission to check it out. That will be so neat to actually hunt this area and find a seated coin and a gold coin would be the frosting on the cake........:)

Eddie... that's one really nice find. Can you read what's carved on the back of the coins. Perhaps that's a clue to the origin?

Congrats! You're right, if things like that could only talk :)

Sounds like you are going to get more than one seated coin to me. Horsetracks and picnic grounds are the most sought after by the coin hunter and I think you will find out why. Hope the seated come in handfuls.

There are some initials and a couple of names on the back of the coins. Jack and jb think it's a family type bracelet with the mother and father's first names and the initials might be for their kids or other family members. Sure wish it was me who dug it up.........:)HH.

I would be happy with just one seated coin, but if this place has never been hunted before which I find to be very unlikely you just never know what might be found there. One can only dream about places like this and if it's virgin territory, WOW!!!!!.........:) I will let you and everyone else know how it pans out. Looks like my buddy Lee and I will start our quest sometime in May and hopefully it will be the best hunt ever for both of us........:)HH.
