The gold ring I use to test my detectors has never seemed really good for this purpose. I noticed today I had to back the discrimination down below iron on my Compadre to detect it really well. As I was making air tests, something caught my eye. Holding the ring under a strong light I saw a very fine black line across the narrowest width. I twisted it on my finger a saw the black line widden, ouch! Remember us talking about loops and open loops not long ago? Well, I got trapped by an open loop
So, I got out my Weller, and soldered across the crack. Low and behold the ring now is detectable to between iron and tinfoil. Son-of -a- gun
Sometimes the littlest of things.
