I took my five year old grandson out today to the fairgrounds. Him with his 35.00 detector and me with my 1000.00 one. well guess who comes out ahead in the old coin find.
He blew me away by finding a 163 year old large cent with his first hit.
Of course he couldnt dig it up so he yells to me. Grandpa I found something as I was digging my first crushed can top.
I thought ok he found a pull tab so I wander over and check his spot and my eyes lit up.
I think you have a good target here boy. and 5" down under the only root in the area and after digging the hole bigger to clear the thing we popped it out.
I may not of found a darn thing but that was the greatest day hunting for me so far this year

:clapping::hot::clap: Tell your grandson congratulations on his first great find. Sounds like he's a natural and I'm sure he has a good teacher. WTG!

after we recovered the coin i ran back to the car to get the cell phone to take a couple pictures. I just figured out how to email them to myself so I could upload them

Congrats to your grandson. Leading someone to good finds is great. I had the pleasure of finding the site where my hunting buddy dug his first and only seated coin. The look on his face made my day!

I work this site all the time and always find good stuff the explorer dosent miss much.
I have seen a lot of people metal detect here. And they just leave all the good stuff behind.
The thing is everything is within 6" deep
