Finally I found some stuff worth posting for a change...............
Got to go to one of the two clubs that I belong to and their out of town hunt. My buddy Lee and I packed up the car and left last Thursday morning. It was about a six hour drive and finally arrived in town, checked into our hotel and quickly headed out to where the rest of the guys and gals were camped at. It's an old lake resort that probably dates back to the early 1900's. Right off the bat I pulled a 1937 Merc and my next target was a beautiful well worn 1923 Peace dollar.
My cross hairs were almost pegged in the upper right corner and I asked Lee to check it out. He said if your not going to dig it then I will..........
She was a good seven inches deep, but that big hunk of silver was screaming on my good old XS.
I didn't clean any of my finds so the dates are not readable on some. My take in wheats were a 1919, a 25, 28, 30, 39, 40, 4-42's, 4-45's, 47, 52, 2-53's, 2-56's, 2-57's, a 58 and a 19?. Only one 1902 Indian, 2-1935 quarters, 1-1906 Barber dime, 1-1960 Canadian dime, 2-1949 Rosie dimes, and my Mercs were 1919, 1920, 1926, 1937, 1941, 1943, and 2-1945's. I also got $8.23 in clad a two Washington state tax tokens. Fifteen silver and twenty wheaties is my best as far as extended outings go. I would have liked to have stayed there for at least another day, but we had to come back home Sunday. The soil around the lake was almost black, but the digging was real easy. Friday morning Lee and I were all hot to trot to hunt the lake area again, but the club decided to hunt the old fairgrounds. Lee and I didn't want to go, but it's a club hunt and the rule is we all hunt at the same area. I don't agree with it for a couple of reasons. First off, like the old saying goes, "if it ain't broke then don't fix it." Second, some of the guys got to spend an extra day at the lake where we all knew there was silver and the fairgrounds was a bust and a waste of time as far as I was concerned and if given the choice I would have just stayed at the lake. Lee got about the same amount of silver as I did and he did get a nice silver cross and a 1897 Canadian fish scale. Another fellow found a nice 18kt gold gents wedding band and good old Jack found a silver coin stick pin, a 1922 Peace dollar and best of all the smallest 1853 dated gold coin that I have ever seen.surprised: It was probably about half the size of a dime. I'll get a picture posted later of this gold coin and maybe somebody knows more about it. I'm not sure what the total take on silver was for all the members that were there, but I will post that later as well. Anyway, all in all we had a great time getting together and the BBQ Sat night was great!! Enjoy the pics and HH.

Wouldn't it be great to find a spot like our club hunted and just have it all to yourself
This will cost you 1 Peace Dollar for posting such results.
up and down for ya! WOW!!!! What a hunt Eddie! You know why I think that Club wanted to move over to the Fairgrounds don't you? Because they wanted that site for themselves (or possibly a few of the members did) when they seen 2 Silver Dollars, a Gold Coin, and all them Keepers come popping out of the ground like that. That sucks that you couldn't of hunted there more since the possibilities could have been endless at that site. Man!!! What a bummer! Oh Well!! At least you got what you did while you were there and just make sure to attend more of them Club Meetings to find out when they plan on going back to that spot. Your 1 up on me now Eddie! I haven't found a Peace Dollar yet so Congrats on that Fantastic Find!
Got our club meeting tonight and our club moonlight hunt this Sat night at our county fairgrounds. I'm taking your newsletter to the meeting tonight to share with the club. I'm also going to sign you up as a member (dues on me) to our club so you will be getting our newsletter in the mail. Send me your address by email or a PM. Thanks again for the kind words and as always HH buddy.
Nice job buddy.
That smells, but hey, if it weren't for the club, you probably wouldn't have gotten to hunt there anyway. If the lake is still there, it is probably an excellent spot for an Excalibur. If there is still that much silver on land, chances are.... no ones done the water yet
