padlock

This was a foot down and came in clear as a bell, trying to find out how old it is and what the us stands for.Going back friday to find some more old items with the se pro.

That's a really nice, old padlock. Is there anything stamped on the curved part, like a manufacturer? Neat find and HH.

I found what looks to be an (almost) identical padlock a couple of years ago. The one I found is solid brass. The US script is the very same, with the only difference is that the one I found has an entirely round or cylinder locking piece. The padlock I found was in a lot owned by my wife's grandma, that was next door to an old Post Office building. I could be entirely off base, but I imagined it was a lock that was used on a mail bag? My thinking is it is stamped with US because it was the property of the US government. I need to do some research on it. Very nice find!!!

I have found the front and back portions of padlocks identical to yours. I initially thought they may be 1800s Post Office locks. But after doing some Internet research, it is most likely a manufacturer company name. None the less, a very nice find, and your's being complete is better yet...Happy Hunting
