I guess he painted it to help him see it under water But where I hunt in water you could put a glow stick on the coil and still not see it LOL hope it works for him
 
That looks like a large lure now. you might be finding larger items then coins, or they may find you!:rofl:

That's a great idea. It should save you time with target retrieval.
 
ALot of our freshwater here has a brownish tint to it and Ive found white is a better color for my coils. I use white electrical tape on top of the coil and it does help see the coil. The stock black is really tough to see after 3ft or so. Snorkling masks help also when your in chest deep.
