Pam and I are back from the hunt in Hastings, Nebraska

We had a nice, albeit, hot and humid, weekend in Hastings, Nebraska.

Although neither of us struck gold, between the two of us we did very well and had a fun time.

Pam did take some photo's of me detecting in the deep silver hunt, that is were I found the Peace Dollar. However, I'm not gonna post any of them because I don't want to "see" them again here later.

We ended up with:

I was going to use the V3i in the fun hunt but it ended up being a relay type of a hunt. So I really could not just hunt with the V3i and not worry about missing anything. I am off all this week so I am going to finally put the V3i through its paces this week. I have read the manual cover to cover this weekend and was going through all the settings with the Spectra while I was reading it. Now it is time to put it through its paces in the field. (And read the manual again, and again.) I found a few errors in the manual so I'm gonna shoot Carl at White's an e-mail with what I have found in a few days. Hopefully they can be added to the next revision of the manual, if there will be one.

One thing is for sure. There is a big learning curve on the Spectra. Even after detecting for 10 years, it's like I'm starting all over again with this one. I really like the way White's put this together this time. I don't feel as overwhelmed with the Spectra as I was with the XLT when I first got into the hobby. But maybe detecting time has a good deal to do with that as well.
