Pattern 2 and gold

The last couple of hunts I used search pattern 2 at the oldest part of where the houses have been removed for the North-South freeway.
Just for the heck of it I layed my wedding ring down. Nothing. It would pick up in patterns 1,3 & 4. Not 2.
Wish I would have known earlier.

Based on the discrimination of Pattern 2, I'm guessing that your wedding ring registers either a 6, or somewhere between 14 and 26. Most likely the latter. I know that because those are the only bins that are rejected by Pattern 2, and accepted by the other Patterns.

Here is a chart showing what the factory default settings are for the X-705.

Keep in mind that X-TERRA Patterns are nothing more than programmable storage bins for how we want our detector to respond to specific targets, either accept or reject, based on their TID number. Any of these Patterns can be edited and adjusted to fit your applications.

Here are a couple links to articles I've written, regarding TID numbers for things we like to dig. These links are posted in the FAQFAQ section, as well as on Minelab's TreasureTalk blog site. Read through them and you'll :rage: when you realize you may have missed. HH Randy

Thanks Randy,
Just went through your book again and saw where my ring fell in that pattern. It comes in at 20. Wont be using that pattern at that site anymore.

Just my 2 cents Bill, I would run all metal 99 tones, just to be sure. The only thing I notch is -9 and 48. Pattern 1 looks like it would be good though.

Not sure I can handle 99 tones. Went back today and ran AM most of the time, sometimes toggled between them. Didn't kill it, but was able to pull another wheat and '26 Merc. I believe I was in AM when I found those.
I am really having a hard time funding a silent patch to GB. Never heard so many targets, makes me wonder if they aren't hot rocks. Awful.

Although Minelab refers to the multi-tone mode as being 99 tones, there really isn't 99 tones. In Multi-tone mode there is one tone for each notch segment. So that means you'd have 28 tones on the 70 and 705, 19 tones on the 505 and 12 tones on the 305.

Instead of running with All Metal and being confused by all the ferrous tones, try making a Pattern that rejects all the ferrous targets (-2, -4, -6, -8 ) and the highest conductive notch ( +48 ) to reduce "wrap-around". Open up the rest of the screen to accept, and you'll now have 23 tones in the Multiple tone mode. If you have a certain type of trash that still drives you nuts, you can always reject that notch as well. As I said earlier, Patterns are there to be edited to your preferences. HH Randy
