Pattern for trashy parks

Bill_S

Well-known member
This is a pattern I have been using in real trashy parks. It works real good for picking up coins. Of course you will lose some jewelry but I only use it where there is a lot of trash like pull tabs, can slaw, etc. It is a killer on nickels. I found all the coins in my previous post using it. If anyone wants a copy I can email it to you in a ptrn file and you can upload it to your Etrac.

I think it cuts off around 34 if I am understanding you right. It will accept a little below zinc pennies.

I am uploading this picture. This will help explain what I have open for those who are not able to upload the file. Hope it helps.

Your picture is so well done
For those of us who don't interface

Thank you! I am liking the pattern. Are you using it for "old coins?" I use an iron mask but I am considering using a tight pattern more frequently.

Might it miss War Nickels? I think they hit 12-13 to 12-14, 12-15? Maybe they hit 12-13 not as solidly, and hit 12-14 more. You do get a lot of those squarer pull tabs at 14 and 15+...

Maybe its just my soil but the pattern is real accurate on nickels too. I dug 29 one time out of 33 nickel signals. I am sure super deep ones may not hit in the nickel area but I designed the pattern for more trashy areas anyway. It will hit a nickel down to say 5-6 inches and still be in the accepted area. I think war nickels have still hit in the nickel range for me. The pattern will still pick up deep silver too. In my other post the silver dimes I found using this patter where between 7-9 inches deep and it picked them up with no problem

I wish someone would post a vid on how slow slow is :)

I did some on my "Falsing" video Jace. I'd like to do an "E-Trac 101". You are correct about questioning what speed works best. In a nutshell here is my opinion, based on my small test garden. When in Auto +3, I need a fairly quick 2 second or less, one way swing to be able to hit my 8" Indian Head.

Now when I'm in Manual, I can hit the coins regardless of speed. In other words, you can be at a crawl and be able to hit them.

I believe Raymo, also uses a brisk sweep speed, but he also runs in Manual sensitivity.

So based on my garden, when I hunt in Auto +3 (which is 90%) of the time, I'm swinging at about a 2 seconds per one way swing.

I would love to see an Etrac 101!!

I usually hunt in manual so I guess I can sweep how I want :)
