Pavement on old street bulldozed:detecting:

slapshot

As I came home tonite I noticed they are digging up the asphalt from a street that runs alongside the ocean. I googled it next to a map of the area made in 1883. The street was there then, it just has a new name now. I plan to detect it in the morning. I hope the old coins are close to the top and not still under alot of fill. I will post how I do.

Happy Hunting!

Did not even get a signal. They must of put on alot of fill before paving. Never know till you try.

Wow that's a surprise for a street that old. When the state dept tore up a section of our main street in calif, (when I lived there). People found coins right on the road bed when the asphalt was broken and lifted up. They even had pictures of it in the newspaper. There were also a bunch of old bottles found. Alas, I didn't get in on that, I was working for Uncle Sam at that time.
