Good job on the pennies 
I sure wish you were here cleaning up the parks I hunt. Those rascals, you know, can mask a nice silver coin or ring. As many as there are in that spot, I guess you don't have to get up and down. You probably can just crawl along. Anyway, good digging. HH jim tn

You probably can just crawl along. Anyway, good digging. HH jim tnWay to go Z -- I too found a penny trove, ended up digging 210 pennies and found only 5 dimes in the mix. Found other coins on the same dig. But nearly all of the 210 came out of a spot about 10' by 6' area. Why? have no idea it was in a pretty protected area. I dig all the pennies I hit, and I find a lot of pennies and the parks I hunt are worked a lot, but my F70 11'DD is finding what is missed. One thing I have figured out, and seems to mirror what Jim is alluding to -- a lot of DH (Detector Heads) do not bother with digging pennies which is fine with me. I hit a school yard once and a couple of other DM came up and told me the area I was looking at had been hit hard but they wished me good luck as they headed for the ball field. So, I started and found 58 pennies and 30 dimes one quarter and 8 nickels and this was in front of the school entry in an area about 50' by 30' -- obviously, whatever MD they were using did not distinguish much between some pennies and dimes. That was an out of town school -- in my local parks, which are also hunted regularly by other, I have found a lot of quarters, dimes and pennies and 5 rings, four Silver one gold. My advice is to dig the pennies, if you don't I will, and thank you very much. Dbax
Way to go Z on doing your share to rid the grounds of old copper and zinc. With my 70 and the 10" concentric it is easy to tell the pre 1984 pennies from the zincolns as the all copper pennies try to pass themselves off as dimes and the zincolns will try to false all the way up to a jumpy quarter if they are corroded enough. Does that seem to be the case with the 6.5 coil too? also does the 6.5 coil give you enough isolation that it eliminates the need for a sniper coil? I have a few spots where the trash is so concentrated at 3" that raising and lowering the concentric does no good because even the golf ball sized focus point of the concentric coil is too big to see between it. I know there is stuff down there by being able to tell when there is some trash near good targets but it is in a park area where you just can't dig it all without ruining the grounds. 
Good job! With the 11" dd and DP tones the zincs come in depending upon how rotten they are from 58 to 63. Dimes and copper pennies are 73ish. A two stack of pennies or a token is 67..A fellow can sort of get the copper penny/dime signal figured out depending upon how large and tight the ping is...not 100 percent yet, but pretty close. I really think one of the big secrets is low to mid sens as far as how the modulated audio feeds back on 3" clad..as well as putting a fellow in the stab zone right away...too much sens and the targets are too big to stab quickly...that what you found too Zeek?

JIm I would be glad to clean your parks of pennies so you could get some more of those silver coins. Not!!!! The staying down too long really takes a lot out of me. I used a battery up on the Garrett pin pointer digging those pennies. One of those batteries on the Garrett lasts a loooooong time. Didn't shut it off just kept swinging the pin pointer around after I found a small area with multiple targets. Today I pulled the plug on the site. It is just to hard on me to keep digging like that. 3 days I have hit the site and still many pennies left.

I am good up until around 100 targets but can push myself to about 130 targets and than it is time to go home and take a nap. Dbax I have watched a number of guys detecting they walk a straight line from one end to the other and back. Than I look up and they are gone. I don't know how a guy like that could clean a place out? A number of times people stop me and ask me how set up their detector for them. How can a person like that clean a park out? I saw a guy with a spoon digging targets. How???? clean???
IBdiggin my F70 the copper and dimes come in 70-73 and I just don't get how to tell them apart yet. I just started using tones@4H because the zinc penny really has a tone of its own. Easy to tell. I still dig it. On the 6.5" coil I like it the best. Signals for coins are very tight, sharp, short. Pin pointing is simple. Most of the time my punch is on the coin when I mark the target. I use the screw driver (punch) to mark the target because sometimes I get distracted and I have no idea where the target is. When hitting trashy area I swing slow and use short movements to separate targets. I am not a fan of the 4" coil just too small.
Elton it is a volley ball court that hasn't been in use for over 7 years. Just talked to the park employees and they let me know a lot about the court. The poles are still up but the grass (weeds) has taken over.
Mud my zincs run around 60-62. If I dig the 58 and up it usually a eaten up zinc. Dimes 70-74 good for dimes and copper penny. I really haven't been able to tell the difference dime or penny. Some times a coin spill will jump all over the place but always dig when a 80 number is jumping in there. I go by the tone when spills. A good coin tone. The F70 is very good at clad id'ing at 3" tones and numbers. Don't even check numbers just get down and start digging when those coin tones come in. You and I must have twin detectors because they pretty much match in performance.

We probably have triplets since I can see similarities to both your and Muds F70's and mine. I am just starting to hear the difference between a copper penny and a clad dime. The short, tight, chopped off ending of a 72 to 74 is usually a pre 1984 copper penny so solid you can not mistake it. The dime on the other hand, if within 6" deep especially in wet ground, seems to have a nice sweet sustaining sound kind of like high falsing iron. Only at 72 to 74 and the dp tone of a dime instead of the mid 90's. I was out the other morning at 6:00 after a good rain under a street lamp in the dark. They should put high beam headlights on the pro pointer
That is when I discovered the sweet ringing sound of the dime in comparison to the penny. I only can buy one coil so it will probably be the 6.5 since I already have the 10" Good to chat with you all again HH.

I use only the 6.5" coil even when detecting large fields. It is so light and the signals are really easy to get used to plus the pin pointing is so easy. When I use a bigger coil the crispness isn't anywhere near the sound of the 6.5" coil. The bigger coils seem fuzzy to me. I used the 11" on the beach and it is in the box in the closet. The standard coil is in the car and every once and awhile I put it on the F70 and it only lasts for about 1/2 hour and I go back and put the 6.5" on again. Really like that coil. Never tried the 5" DD. Nice to hear from you again. Happy Trails.....Z

I found a penny trove once. Right at the base of my steps. About a 10'x15' area.
Background: MY house was my grandma's since the 70's - 90's.
Grandma was "That old penny lady." at Halloween time.
As I was digging them all up, I could imagine all the pissed off trick or treaters spiking the pennies into the ground like footballs as they stormed off the walkway cursing under their breath.
