Penny magnet!

I got out yesterday for a few hours in the local park and tried around one of the picnic shelters. Lots of signals so I concentrated on the shallow and the strong 4-6" range. Found a couple dozen pull tabs and a only a few bottle caps but got 43 pennies before leaving. No other coins?? I picked up a Harbor Freight pinpointer and it really helps to find things quicker now. (Saving my clad for a PP AT!) I know teenagers like to hang out at this shelter and I think they throw the pennies at each other?? Also explains the amount of broken glass and other trash around it which I remove when found. Gotta be other coins in there. I'll find them...

Great job on getting out the pennies.I used a harbour freight pp for a couple of years before getting a garrett propointer. And its good for the money and alot better than not having one.HH

I agree about having a pinpointer. The Ace 250 has the pinpoint feature but to be able to locate within the hole is great. Also with the amount of broken glass that seems to be scattered at this site the less I have to poke around within the ground the safer I am! It definitely speeds up the recovery time.

I know it's an older detector, but I'll always have my Ace/sniper combo. Snipey and the Flying Ace forever! I don't post about it much anymore, but this combo is dynamite.

Those pennies add up quickly. I too hunted places where teenagers threw them at each other. Most hunters ignored these places....not worth their time. Along with finding thousands of pennies, I also got my share of rings, which others missed. Keep at it.....

If you got the time and places to hunt, it's possible to find 2,000 or more a season. Some guys much more. Sometimes while untangling a penny patch you find a little silver.
