Permission...Verbal or Written ?

HI All, Whats the best procedure for obtaining permission to hunt properties, Verbal or Written ? I would think written, but homeowners might be reluctant to want to sign ? Does anybody have a generic permission contract ? Whats most of you do?

and if they say yes, I go for it. I think very few get written permission, but some do.

I would think that asking for a written slip would put people off - not a comfortable thing to do. Signing your name to a stranger isn't good, plus one more step to do . Steve in so az

I just ask . I have only been turned down one time.

Verbal is the best way. Like Steve said, and I too would probably be kind of reluctant to sign a paper for someone whom I did not know. If you have a business card or can make one up with info about you being a detectorist and give that to the person when you ask, that helps also. Even if they say no at first, if they have your card they sometimes call back after thinking about it and say ok.
