Found this a couple of weeks ago. Marked Italy 14k but when I cleaned it it turned pink - the plating came off !!!! Someone was really ripped.. My machine said it was gold too..HH GregM

found same italy 14k mark on necklace 2 years ago.... it never did sparkle or shine,, from what i read on forum a lot of those marked italy 14k are phoney.. hopfully the next one will be the real deal..

I have heard in many cases where the clasp has 14k printed, the clasp is 14k, but the rest of the necklace can be something else especially in foreign countries like mexico. Just my 2 cents worth. GH, Don

I found a ring last year that was marked 14K, but it came out tarnished brown, had basically no weight to it, rang too high to be gold, and bent really easily. Plenty of fakes out there, you just have to get everything tested.
