PI and GT3000

I recently read somewhere on the internet that the PI Detector versus the GT3000, was better or as good prospecting for small gold at greater depths.
I'm retired now and plan on traveling to LDMA and GPAA sites, and will be leaving for the Cripple Creek outing Aug. 1 thru Aug.14
I would appreciate any help like
"(The GP3000 is very expensive and heavy but worth it.)"
Thank You:

For a review of the GP3000 as well as other gold detectors go to Steve Herschbach's Nugget detector opinions at http://www.akmining.com/mine/metal.htm
Yes a lot of serious PI nugget hunters regard the GP3000 as top gun. However,no one gold detector is suitable for all areas. I menition this because you are going to the Cripple Creek outing which I assume is in Colorado. Living in Colorado- a lot of the old mining areas here are unsuitable for PIs because of the incredible amounts of iron trash. As all PIs lack reliable discrimination this is a problem at such sites.
Suggest you seek further information on what experienced users are using in the areas you plan to visit.
P.S. There are some nuggethunting or nuggetshooting forums which will help you more in your quest
