PI Detecting Magnetic Rock?

A

Guest
Hi Eric & Bill, do you know if there any similarity in the way these Magnetic Susceptibility Meters work to a PI Detector?
as they seem to use an air cored 3inch coil and run at around 10khz to measure the tiny amount of magnetisum left in granite, I was wondering if a pi could be re-timed to do the same or detect presence of buried rocks? Rob T.(uk)

Hi Rob,
You probably could use a PI system to measure magnetic susceptibility but all the ones I know are continuous wave. Go to www.bartington.com for a UK designer and manufacturer of such devices.
Eric.
