picking up targets while discrimination null

So last fall I played with the all metal mode cause I am thinking I am missing some things cause of discrimination nulling. Does the safari still give a good solid tone even if iron is discriminated out? I have had what I think is falling but if good targets just chirp instead of sounding off loud I could be missing some good targets.

Yes. I once found a merc at a 45degree angle, 1/4" above a smashed aluminum can (fill dirt). Silver tone stood out strongly.

Try it out for yourself with an air test..

I have tried with the air test.. it does show up well in the air... i know that when iron rusts it somewhat leeches the iron into the surrounding ground and that would change some alittle.

It seems to me that the Safari is programmed to over ride every signal and scream when it sees silver. But I'm just a User; someone else with more tech knowledge can shed more light on this, I'm sure.

Kintn have you noticed any bugs with the 3030. Was thinking about buying one but my brother says it has some target I'd bugs and some falling issues

Mine has been perfect. Limited solely by the operator's lack of ability.
I am, however, pretty meticulous about keeping it clean, not banging it into things, etc.

Everything I have seen on the web with problems have been fixed via warranty.
Oh, one problem I did have was with the Koss30 headphones. The plug is poorly designed and starts to short out pretty quickly giving a imtermittant scratchy sound. ML sent me a new set without question when i emailed them (thanks, Nadia), but the replacement pair rapidly developed the same problem. Some day when it irritates me enough, I'll just rewire a replacement plug. I want to emphasize that I am NOT hard on my gear and the Koss problem is well known on the forums.

Ya it seems Koss has this issue with a lot of there headphones. I have a pair I use in residential areas in town... same issue with the plug... if I turn it clockwise a bit it comes out of it. I worry about getting the ctx3030 then cause I get into the mud and my detector comes back looking like a muddy stick but I try to clean it off and I am careful not to get anything on or around the housing and I always keep it covered

Iv'e found when silver is present in a hole alongside iron, I'll get a mixed signal but the silver will be detected as you pass the coil over the spot in different directions. I almost exclusively operate in all metal even though the ears are bombarded with all kinds of sounds! I'm actually used to all the sounds now, but I try to go slow hoping that I'm not missing any good targets, silver included. I guess I can't stand the thought of swinging the coil while it's in a nulled out mode and missing a silver or gold target!

Ya I have been playing with all metal.. found some silver last fall in areas my brother and I hunted very very hard... it was next to a burn pit with a bunch of iron but not sure if it was nulled out or just missed it with the coil... my brother runs the atpro so I don't really complain the two
