Pics from around my house/or land........

Well, this is Lisa instead of Liz, Ma, but I'll count it an honor to be called Liz! She is a great gal! Looks like I'll have to "keep the crawly critters" since I can't figure out a way to get rid of them - not that I don't try to! Ah, I ain't SKEERD, Ma! Y'all are the only ones I've shared that with and I do pack my pistol every time I walk or hike, and a big ol hickory hiking pole to boot. Besides that, I might only be 5'4, but I'm a scrapper and figure I can hold my own, with or without the gun or pole... I'm a country girl, don't you know. ;-)

Yep, I've already hunted some of those places! Hope to hunt many more!

Where is it that you're from? If you make that trip, make sure it is to Northeast Alabama. Not all of Alabama is as lush, mountainous, or quite this pretty. After you get away from the northeast quarter of the state, things look differently. The northwestern quarter has some hills but things kind of flatten out and just aren't the same. After you get a little south of Birmingham you cross the "fall line" and almost everything is flat once you reach that Wire Grass region (with only a few minor hills here and there) all the way down to our beaches. Our beaches have white sand, and not the nasty looking brown, pebble & shell filled sand you find on a lot of beaches. Our water on the coast is emerald green. I hear that our Gulf Shores & Orange Beach are already packed!

Sorry Lisa and Liz, you both will have to overlook Ma! I have a tremendous head and neckache tonight! Still working on my Taxes and thought I would finish today, but must tomorrow, hopefully! My eyes get soooo tired from reading and my mind doesn't comprehend anymore, especially, the government forms, publications and etc. I don't think any of them have ever sat down and figured their own mess out and jjust have a CPA do it, which they can afford! It would have been easier had I had the right forms and book, but had to get info off the Internet and keep going back and forth to know and understand what I'm supposed to be doing???? Grrrrrr! I'm getting it done slowly and should have it ready to mail by the 14th and get it to the post office, so it will be dated correctly and not be late! This is the first year that I have ever been this late when I did fill out the State & Fed Taxes for myself! Oh well, I guess ya can teach an old gal new tricks! ;) May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

I really like that old church. It sits way up on top of a hill, in a pasture at the edge of the woods. Would love to have heard some of those sermons! I will try to remember to get some pics at Christmas.

Thansk so much for sharing! :)

I agree!!!!!! I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!!!!!! Love it here and am thankful to be able to admire God's handiwork, each and every day. Yeah, Doug is just up the road in in Tennessee! See what you Yankees are missing! Ha! ;-) My camera isn't anything special. Nothing special, nothing complicated, not expensive... about $250 at Walmart. Most of these pics were taken with my Cannon PowerShot SX110. A few could have been taken with my older Kodak (don't remember what the model number is, but it isn't fancy either). As for the safety issues, see what I told Ma, above. Thanks!

Lisa

Thanks, Travis. Hope you are able to get out and enjoy your outdoors there in Kentucky... another Southerner!

Lisa

Well, to most people it's the creek. However, I do know some old timers who say crick.

Lisa

Well, to me it is Heaven on earth, but I'm sure that most people feel that way about the area they are from. Lots of things here that AREN'T Heaven on earth! Humidity, heat, snakes, lizards, mosquitoes as big as 747's............ I'm sure that the desert has a beauty of its own, Steve.

Come ahead on! Aren't you from the Chattanooga area? There isn't too much difference in there and here... as long as you aren't inside the city. Chattanooga is only an hour (or less) from me.

Lisa

All I can say is, I AGREE!!!! American by birth; Southern, country and in the mountains, by the Grace of God!!!!!

Lisa

I hear ya, Liz! You and I will stay in our sticks, boonies and hills! I know what you mean about uploading pics. I was telling Ma a while back how I wish this forum was much more user friendly when it comes to pictures and responding to posts, etc. Facebook has its issues and problems, but it's a breeze to upload, post and respond. Looking forward to seeing your pictures!

Lisa

No complaints from me about you mixing us up! Like I said, I count it an honor! I'm sorry you are having so much trouble with your tax stuff. Don't know why things have to be so difficult! I'm sure there would be an easier way to handle it if they would put forth the effort to make it more simple. Is the neck ache and headache from the fibro? I've been in misery with my neck for the past week or so, and I KNOW that's what it's from!

Lisa

Great pics Lisa! You guys sure live in a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing!

and Mississippi, and Louisiana.. Never been to your state.. I will ask you to PM where you live and visit that area. Not your home addy. And who knows you and your husband can meet us for a cup of coffee. Love to see the mountains. Thanks.

Thank you, Lisa, and no my aches are mostly from arthritis and too much tenseness at times! I may have fibro as my daughter has it, but I've never been diagnosed! From what she says though, I seem to have the same thing....as my muscles cramp and I have a hard time bending or leaning over when in my side under my ribs and legs and hips too! I have the taxes about completed....just have to get them together in the proper order and forms, deductions and etc. I wanted to get them in the mail today, but ran into some more problems but glad I did, because I know more now and I hope I haven't any errors, but if I do, I hope they are in my favor.....because I have to pay both State & Federal over $2,000.00 combined and it is difficult for me right now, but I will be closing on the Cuba, MO home in May and then I will have more money to pay bills with and not have to count pennies so much! I hope you are feeling better! The pollen here is horrible----the worst it has been in years----and many people are suffering including me...my sinuses are bleeding and I think allergies are making me worse besides all the other aches and pains! But God is with me, so who can be against me, right?? May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

When you went into Georgia, were you in the North Georgia Mountains? If not, then you NEED to go THERE, for sure! Around Dahlonega, Ellijay, Blue Ridge, Helen.... I love going over there! It's even prettier there than it is here, and the mountains are bigger too. Mississippi is nothing but flat and desolate land. Louisiana is flat too, and swampy. For real Southern beauty, you need to see North Georgia Mountains, Northeast Alabama, Eastern Tennessee, Western North Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, Charleston, South Carolina, the mountains of Virginia, the Kentucky Hills, etc. Don't really remember ever going to West Virginia, but I'm sure dirtdigginlady can tell you about her area.

I will PM my info to you tonight or tomorrow. I am kind of in a hurry right now. You would be MORE than welcome to drop in for a visit at my and Tim's house. Weather and time permitting, we could take you and your wife out to see some of the sights around here. As for actually visiting this area, there isn't anything about this area for tourists. Nothing really to do here as far as visiting or vacationing goes. We just have the natural beauty with no tourist attractions. I mean I can tell you some places to see, but you pretty much have to get off the beaten paths to see things. Nothing to see while passing through on the Interstate.
