How can I do away with the distortion...like on the fence rail? I don't think it's on the original. Does compressing it for the forum cause that? thanks

If so you may have oversharpened it for some of the elements in the photo. Maybe try selecting the parts that need sharpening - or magic wanding the fence, selecting inverse, and then sharpen.

Took the picture in raw mode and converted to tiff and then adjusted the size to fit the forum screen. I'll experiment with what you said and see what happens...Thanks dudephil

If you didn't do any sharpening then my tip probably won't help you Mike. What methods are you using for resize?

I think it's called arcsoft photo impressions. I just dial in the percentage of resizing until it's about 800 x 600 or so for the forum. I think I resized this photo by about 75% to get to that size. thanks again.
