Pinpoint readings

Was out today on a short hunt and had a couple good sounding hits with good numbers, 12-42, repeatable and from both directions. Went into pinpoint and numbers changed to 22-44, 24-46. Dug them to see what was what and they were junk targets. Is the Etrac in pinpoint more accurate. Was using sizing mode and targets were showing 6" deep.

I'm interested in hearing from the long time E users on this one as well. I have noticed the result going both ways....have found what the original ID indicated and have also found junk with nothing else in the hole!

Good question Terry!!

Did you switch to wide open quick mask first after descrimination pattern befire pin point mode to see what they read then?
I usually do that next to see if the numbers change drastically and if that cursor falls into the bottom right corner it's junk, usually iron.

Sorry, should have added that I was using Andy's coin pattern but was in 4 tone conductive audio. I did switch to a wide open quickmask screen for comparison. Readings were pretty much the same with cursor showing just to middle right and just above middle of screen. One target was an older hair pin, the other a piece of junk metal.

Most of the time the numbers change in pinpoint for me. I find that the numbers in detect were the right ones. I have had numbers like 12-45 turn into 35-42 in pinpoint and still was a dime. I ignore the numbers in pinpoint mode. Remember you are in all metal open screen in pinpoint.
