pinpointing with the 10.5"

I'm having a terrible time pinpointing with this coil. Its OK when I hunt in the field because I can use a relic type shovel, but in the parks I can only use a screwdriver to locate and retrieve.
Where is the sweet spot on these coils in relation to the Minelab sticker on the top of the coil?

On both of my 10.5" coils the sweet spot is right under the sticker. Throw a quarter and a dime down separately on top of the ground and I'd expect that you will see the same thing

I did that. I had to raise the coil quite high to try to find the spot and felt that it was just below the sticker, but I spent so much time trying to locate my targets and not finding them I thought I would double check with someone that uses one a lot.
Thank you.

It's pretty consistent with my 10.5" coils that it will be exactly under the label. I don't ever remember a time that I dug a target and the target was outside of that area.

Which pinpoint mode do you use? I just started using a 705 with the 10.5" mf and the default pinpoint was a mess for this newbie. I switch to PS, which others I was familiar with use, and find it to be pretty much center of the coil by the dot or between dot and sticker. Although, unless tight adjacent targets, I typically just do the 90 degree turn X method with DD coils instead of using pinpoint.

Bill with my 505, I use pinpoint mode and when I hear the loudest/highest tone and ID segments are filled, the target is exactly under the label on the coil. It takes very little time, much quicker than narrowing it down with just the big coil. Although the depth indicator is not very accurate, I find the pinpoint mode is indeed very accurate so I always use it.

I never use the PP mode, it will not pick up real deep coins. I use the DD wiggle. Do a tight wiggle of the coil and as you do that pull it back towards you and right when the tones stop, the target will be right at the center outer edge of your coil. That's the best way I know of to PP with a DD type coil.

Mark, I will give that a try. And to be honest, I think its the best explanation of that I've heard. Easy and straightforward.
Thanks

Mark is right and alot of folks use the dd wiggle. I love playing around with my 705 and I use the pp sizing mode a lot. That's me though. I hunt slow and size the target (outline it) with pp sizing even after pinpointing with the wiggle.
Auto pp sortof wondered off on me. Target was 3 -4 inches off. I've switched to pp sizing and love it. With the digger coil its dead center. 5x10 center as well.
