Pinpointing with the 18.75 Elliptical Coil

I have been getting used to pinpointing with the 9" MF Concentric Coil and think i have it down pretty good. When i switched over to the 10x5 HF Elliptical Coil, i was having a hard time pinpointing correctly. Does it pinpoint in the middle of the coil? It could be that i just don't have much time swinging with that one, but I'm sure there are a lot of folks here that could give me some pointers. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

IMHO, the most accurate method of pinpointing with a DD coil is to swing the coil over the target and slowly draw the coil backwards as you swing. As soon as the signal disappears, the target should be directly at the front tip of the coil! Works for me every time.

Gotcha! Thats what i started doing because i couldn't pinpoint to save my life! It seemed like once i started doing it the way you mentioned, my plugs were much more accurate. I guess i'm just going to have to play around in the yard to get a better feel for it.

Thanks

I just got in the habit of X-ing over them. Regardless of the coil used, where they converge is where the target is.

I also use the zig zag as you drag back method as I do with all my DD coils (even when detecting under the water)

But if you use the machines Pinpointing function the sweet spot is under the sticker on the 5x10" elliptical DD coil.

Awesome! That is what i was looking for. However, It sounds like the X method or drag back method works best.

Thanks!

I find also to be under the sticker!
